A slime station, face painting, a playdough centre and water play activities were all part of the fun at the Cairns National Playgroup Week celebrations on Thursday, March 30.
The Messy Play Day for Families, which aimed to encourage families to recognise the importance of playgroups, was a free event held at the Fun Ship along the Cairns Esplanade.
As part of a 12-month partnership between Sunbus Cairns and Mission Australia, the local bus operator jumped aboard the community initiative, picking up Mission Australia’s clients from a number of locations to attend the event.
Sunbus Cairns acting General Manager Daniel O’Halloran said it was a day full of fun and the families loved the adventure.
“We had Mission Australia’s mascot Terry the Turtle leading a chorus of kids singing ‘the wheels on the bus go round and round’,” Mr O’Halloran said.
Sunbus Cairns has partnered with Mission Australia / CfC to help integrate their clients into the community through a number of activities including the Christmas Lights Tour, as well as raise important funds to contribute to the organisation’s work.
